【Award Announcement】
I am pleased to announce that I have received the Grand Prix and the NONIO Award in the Painting category at the NONIO ART WAVE AWARD 2021, hosted by Lion Corporation.
As a result, NONIO products featuring my artwork design will be released in limited quantities with special packaging next February.

【概要】
日韓芸術通信５の日本展を開催します。
「日韓藝術通信」は、日本と韓国の相互理解、および両国の未来に対する新しい可能性の提示のため、日韓の美術家たちが集まり、互いの制作活動および作品を通して文化交流を図る試みです。2016年以降、日韓で交互に展覧会を開催しつづけてきました。
2019年は冷え込んだ日韓の状況を受けて、互いの温度を確かめ、混ざりあうような対流を作り出す意図で「温度」をテーマに開催されました。2020年度は、そのテーマを継続しつつ、「往復書簡」を副題として開催します。
コロナ禍によってデジタル化/オンライン化が急速に進むなかで、アナログな身体、リアルな物質や体験の価値が下がるかというと、必ずしもそうではありません。距離感の難しくなったこの時代に、離れながらも互いの温度を探りあうような試みとして、そしてアーティストであるからこそできるコミュニケーションとして、わたしたちは今年、日韓のアーティスト間で手紙と「風景」をモチーフとした小作品を往復書簡としてリレーさせていくプロジェクトをスタートさせました。
本展では各自の作品に加えて、日韓それぞれの手元に残る往復書簡を展示します。そこには、確かな物質に刻まれた、互いの存在と温度のやりとりがあることでしょう。いままでになかった時代に、あえてアナログな方法を採りながら、いままでとは違う交流の在り方を探ります。

This is the fifth installment of an ongoing exchange exhibition between Japanese and Korean artists, which began in 2016.

[Overview]
We will be holding the Japan Exhibition of "Japan-Korea Art Communication 5".
"Japan-Korea Art Communication" is an attempt to promote mutual understanding between Japan and Korea, and to present new possibilities for the future of both countries, by bringing together Japanese and Korean artists to exchange culture through their respective creative activities and works. Since 2016, we have continued to hold exhibitions alternately in Japan and Korea.
In 2019, in response to the strained relationship between Japan and South Korea, the exhibition was held under the theme of "Temperature," with the intention of confirming each other's feelings and creating a convection that would blend them together. In 2020, while continuing that theme, the exhibition will be held with the subtitle "Correspondence."
Amidst the rapid advancement of digitalization and online services due to the COVID-19 pandemic, does this necessarily mean that the value of analog bodies, real materials, and experiences will diminish? Not necessarily. In this era where the sense of distance has become difficult, as an attempt to explore each other's feelings while being apart, and as a form of communication only possible as artists, we have started a project this year in which Japanese and Korean artists will exchange letters and small works based on the motif of "landscape" as a relay of correspondence.
In this exhibition, in addition to each artist's work, the correspondence that remains in the possession of both Japan and South Korea will be displayed. There, you will find the exchange of each other's presence and temperature, etched into tangible material. In this unprecedented era, we will explore a different form of exchange by deliberately adopting an analog method.

「温度 / 온도（オンド）」 終わらない対流
当展覧会「韓日藝術通信」は、日本と韓国の相互理解、および両国の未来に対する新しい可能性の提示のため、日韓の美術家たちが集まり、互いの制作活動および作品を通して文化交流を図る試みです。
当展覧会「韓日藝術通信」は、日本と韓国の相互理解、および両国の未来に対する新しい可能性の提示のため、日韓の美術家たちが集まり、互いの制作活動および作品を通して文化交流を図る試みです。
2015年、韓国、清州のアーティストグループ「Saem」（セム）が来日したことをきっかけにスタートしました。以降、毎年、日韓での展覧会開催を通して2019年へと続いています。
今回のテーマは日韓で同じ音と意味をもつ「オンド (温度 / 온도）」です。 この言葉の背景には、日韓の参加者が制作活動で重要視していることの違い、その温度差にこそ、この集まりの特徴があり、価値があるのではないか。そのような視点が含まれています。「美」や「伝統」に対する温度差。「社会」や「歴史」に対する温度差。「芸術」そのものに対する温度差。芸術作品の多様さとは、それら温度差から生まれる価値観の多様さでもあるのです。 流動的な環境下では、温度差は対流という流れを生み出します。均一に混ざり合えば対流は終わりますが、芸術の対流はそうはいきません。作家と作品のもつ温度が、隣り合う別の温度に流れ込む時、また別の温度と温度差を生み出して新しい対流となっていく。その運動に終わりはなく、同じ対流もないのです。
日本と韓国の温度差。そして作家それぞれの温度差。ここに生まれる芸術の対流は、西洋を中心とする「アート」の対流と果たして同じものなのでしょうか。日韓だから生まれる対流。アジアだから生まれる対流。その行く先を感じていただける展覧会であれば幸いです。

"Temperature / Ondo (Ondo)" - An Unending Convection
This exhibition, "Korea-Japan Art Communication," is an attempt to promote mutual understanding between Japan and Korea, and to present new possibilities for the future of both countries, by bringing together Japanese and Korean artists to exchange culture through their respective creative activities and works.
It started in 2015 when the Korean artist group "Saem" from Cheongju visited Japan. Since then, the event has continued annually through exhibitions held in Japan and Korea, leading up to 2019.
This year's theme is "Ondo (temperature / 온도)," a word with the same sound and meaning in both Japan and Korea. Behind this word lies the idea that the differences in what Japanese and Korean participants prioritize in their creative activities—the "temperature" differences—are precisely what define and give value to this gathering. This perspective encompasses differences in "beauty" and "tradition," differences in "society" and "history," and differences in "art" itself. The diversity of works of art is also the diversity of values that arise from these temperature differences. In a fluid environment, temperature differences create a current called convection. While convection ends when things mix uniformly, the convection of art is different. When the "temperature" of an artist and their work flows into another adjacent temperature, it creates yet another temperature difference, resulting in a new convection. This movement has no end, and no two convections are the same.
The temperature differences between Japan and Korea. And the temperature differences of each individual artist. Is the artistic current emerging here truly the same as the current of "art" centered in the West? A current born out of Japan and Korea. A current born out of Asia. We hope this exhibition will allow you to sense where this current is headed.
