「アートとまち」の新しい可能性をさぐるプロジェクト
梅小路まちづくりラボは、丹波口駅〜梅小路京都西駅を中心とするエリアを「クリエイティブなまち」にすることを目的に設立されました。この大きな目標に向かって、14法人・地元自治会による連携協定が交わされています。
2022年には第１号となる拠点がオープン予定ですが、それに先駆けて「アートとまち」の新しい可能性をさぐるプロジェクトをこのたびスタートいたします。
京都は、他の都市に類をみない密度で芸術系大学が創設されている街です。京都外からも多くの学生が通い、暮らし、日々制作を実践しています。卒業後、そのまま京都で制作を続ける美術家やデザイナーがたくさんいることも、実は他の街からするとすこし特別です。
「これからのまち」を考えるにあたって、そんな京都を拠点とするクリエイターたちと分野を越境し対話するための場づくりを、梅小路まちづくりラボは進めていきます。まずはお互いに自己紹介するような、そんな企画を立ち上げました。

A Project Exploring New Possibilities for "Art and the City"
The Umekoji Community Development Lab was established with the goal of transforming the area centered around Tambaguchi Station to Umekoji Kyoto West Station into a "creative city." Towards this ambitious goal, a collaborative agreement has been reached with 14 organizations and local community associations.
While the first base is scheduled to open in 2022, we are launching this project to explore new possibilities for "art and the city" in advance.
Kyoto is a city with an unparalleled density of art universities. Many students from outside Kyoto commute, live, and practice their art daily. The fact that many artists and designers continue their work in Kyoto after graduation is also somewhat unique compared to other cities.
In considering "the city of the future," the Umekoji Community Development Lab will promote the creation of a space for cross-disciplinary dialogue with creators based in Kyoto. We have launched a project to begin with introductions.
